I was at the local cruise tonight with my brother, (turbojimmy) who has a nice lokking GN and my 87 Turbo T which just got a really nice paint job and "like new" interior. With both cars side by side, people were flocked around the GN all night. I was lucky if my car got a glance in passing before people were done cheking out the GN and went on the look at the 80 something Iroc next to me. I even had my hood up as proof that they shared they same engine. I did get some older folks checking it out, (maybe it looks like a Regal or Monte or something like they once owned). Anyhow, at the end of the night, my brother goes home with a plaque and I go home with nothing. :( Not that I didn't have a good time and I'm happy for my brother as we both spent alot of time and hard earned money on our rides over the years. The plaque was well deserved. It's just kind of frustrating owning a Regal T when poeple don't know or really care what it is.

Hey don't sweat it. I have had both, but prefer my White 87 T. I like sleepers myself. The T gets less positive attention, but also gets less negative attention than a GN. You have nothing to feel bad about. It is just public perception and lack of knowledge on their part. There is a local car for sale up here that is almost identical to yours. It's a really nice color combination.

I also have both .. GN's get more attention and are worth more $$$ when selling

Mine's hardly a show car, but it cleans up pretty nice. I'll park it right in with alot nicer cars, and it gets alot of attention. There's always somebody checking out under the hood. But really, I don't sit beside the car and wait for attention, I'm busy roaming around checking out other peoples junk :D
If they like it, cool. If not, who cares?

I sold my black WE4 to get a T with some color to it. Personally I like the T's better.

Yeah , I didn't hang around my car either, I was just a little hurt when I didn't get a plaque. :frown:

As we all agree, the dark side is pretty and gets more dollars, but it aint no faster. Attention is not always a good thing.

black is the best looking color to me, but isnt it a chore to keep it clean?

I can feel comfortable about leaving my '86 TType on the street for a while, but not the GN...scares me to death to leave it unattened. Sometimes going incognito is the best way to go. I have to say one thing my TType is much more comfortable to drive than my GN.

You hit the nail on the head with a sledgehammer!
Even with sad paint that I can't seem to get polished right, I get compliments frequently. Even when it's dirty. It's quite nasty right now from the light rain we had the other day, and just yesterday a younger fellow in a newer black 'Yoda was driving up beside me and gave me the 'thumbs up' and said it was a sweet GN and he loved it. I just said thanks and wished it was as clean as his. His had the freshly painted/washed/polished look. He must have just done it.
Probably wouldn't have happened if it was another color without GN badges.
Some people can't help being ignorant.

Dont be so upset...

While you didnt get that much attention, if I had my monte there next to your cars, you'd have the flock of the crowd...

I would never have black as a daily. Too much work to keep it presentable. A show car is different but that's not me either.

how about a TTA

It's the color not the car.
My 69-442 will get little attention, the GN will draw a crowd.

There's a lot to be said for both. I would never get rid of my Turbo-T for a GN. I know that the GN's are worth more, get more attention, look nicer when clean, they also are: looking worse when dirtier. & show the dirt more.
if everything else is equal, slower due to wheel weight alone, theoretically speaking. (weight difference may not make a difference in a race, but it's there.
Stolen more. Can't turn your back for a second.
Lack the "Grandpa's Old Buick effect", if you like that. I like incognito attitude.
Hard to keep a low profile with the constables.
Even though I know the Gn is worth more, everything else being equal, I wouldn't trade my Turbo-t for a GN, even if I was getting the better part of the deal. That's just me, though.

No thanks, I had a white T/A before an it was seemed to always have black rubber smudges behind the rear wheels. ;)
