GNX #005 Sells for $61,000!

The prices of these GNX's this year are going thru the roof! I think collectors are starting to realize that the GNX is the Copo/Yenko of the 80's and invest their $!

The main point is that this is GNX # 005 (GNX00636A on gnxregistry), GIVEN to a Buick Dealer. The fact is that Buick GNX # 005 did not fit the owners collection of Buicks, for example one of his cars is a 1929 Duesenberg in EXCELLENT condition.

What type of Buicks would you own if you were the OWNER of the largest Buick Dealer in his area. Not sure I would sell GNX # 005, but what is the price of a 1987 GNX vs 1929 Duesenberg in the same condition, picture here . Plus Lew celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary and the family portrait is in front of what, not his GNX, but something more classic and a convertible from 1929, which is just one of his many toys.

It is a sad day for Buick when someone buys a car and sells it within 6 months just to make a dollar. I mean $42,401 up to $61,609. CAN YOU SAY -- NO CAPITAL GAINS OR TAXES !!!

THAT IS A SMART INVESTMENT AND GREAT TIMING.

So to all true Buick GN/GNX/T owners we are waiting for you to sell your vehicle for a non inflated amount because we want them to enjoy and have a true love and passion for these cars, just like our family.

I was contacted by a guy this week asking how and what to look for when buying a GN or GNX -- he loved the Buick GN. There is a certain trait that is in all of us about these cars.

I am at a point in my life and have thought about this from day 1 back in 1988. I would rather GIVE my GN to someone who loves these cars vs selling it for maximum dollar (on the condition that it can never be sold, simply for profit). My GN with mileage, history and condition should be able to get $15,000. There is a passion and love for these cars that seperate us from other car owners.

ebay is a bidding war that inflates prices, especially related to Buick GN / GNX's that are in demand.

GNX # 354 sold for $27,500 with 42,000 miles on 12/26/2003.

GNX # 006 with 22,000 miles is for sale, GNX00650C located members section of www.gnregistry.com.

If you really want a T/GN/GNX/TTA do not use ebay, you will pay more for less. Nothing worth having comes easily.

I have never made a profit on a car sold, and never owned a GNX, which would never be for sale, period!! Guess that is just me. I think at times, I could have a better car or better house if I sold my GN, buy it is not an option -- even when I had money problems years ago with no job and no income. it is called storage and a beater car for couple hundred dollars.

It would've been a great day had I been the owner of that car. Just because someone pays a monster amount for one car does not automatically mean it will then cause all other similar cars to follow suit. I've seen it a million times. The car is significant as the first GNX sold to a dealer, and thus available for public consumption. I think that adds some value to the car, but how much I don't know.

Ebay is nothing more than a venue to put buyer and seller together. It does not inflate prices, it simply verifies the market. Deals can be had on ebay just as they can anywhere else. I bought a 98 Accord for WAY less than book value a year ago on Ebay.

Just like anywhere else, you get what you pay for. With ebay, however, it is also true that sometimes you don't get what you pay for, which is why I choose to exhaustively show every one of my cars so people can get a thorough view of what they're getting.

FWIW & IMHO:
I suspect that E-bay has a very high fallout when it comes time to go pay and pick up the car, especially on high dollar items like GNX's. You see a lot of these E-bay cars going, going, goin, gone, wham, bam sold, and then you see it right back on e-bay with some not so plausible explanation, or no explanation at all. Feeding frenzy amongst car people, perhaps?

E-bay is sort of like a non lit-up Las Vegas. I think that it is very easy to get caught up in the feeding frenzy. I have never bought anything off of e-bay, nor do I intend to. However, I am not above contacting an owner/seller if I see something that I have an interest in and advising him that if the auction does not go his way to contact me. However, in no way do I have any bad feelings towards anyone who uses e-bay to sell things. Nor do I harbor and bad ill/feelings towards people who make money doing this type of thing. They do not raise the price in this situation. We Do. By buying and bidding. Sometimes I think that e-bay has broken more hearts than romance. The anxiety of not knowing whether I won the bid on something like this would definitely stress me out, and break my heart when I hear that someone else won the bid in the last feqw seconds of the auction.
