I have a 1984 Grand National that had a "GNX Conversion" done to it.
It is a 1984 model. It has T-Tops and Lear-Siegler seats. It had the "GNX Conversion" done to it in 1988 in Fenton, MI by a company called Quality Engineering Performance Products Inc.
The following is a list of modifications that Quality Engineering did to the car:
E-PROM
VDO Instrument Cluster
GNX Style Rear Suspension
GNX Fender Flares
GNX Louvers
GNX Style Wheels
GNX Super Flow Heads
Ported Intake
Bilstine Shocks
3" Low Restriction Exhaust System
GNX Emblems
This car was purchased by my brother in 1987. In the summer months, it was an "every-day driver" from approximately 1987-1993. I purchased it from him in 1995. This car was in storage from 1996 to 2002. In 2002, the original engine was replaced with one from a 1987 GN, however this car is NOT intercooled. Also in 2002, the car was repainted. The paint is in good condition and still has a fine shine to it, although it does have some nicks and chips to it from normal driving conditions. Additionaly, the gas tank was replaced in 2002. New head gaskets were installed in 2011. It has 245/50 R15 Yokohama tires at about 80% that were put on in 2003.
The instrument cluster was orignally digital. It was replaced in 1988 with analog gauges by Quality Engineering. The odometer shows 29,349.
The interior of the car is in very good condition, save for cracks around the dash speakers, the front seat belts, and wear (sun/heat damage) on the very top of the rear seats. It has an Alpine tape player in it, but I believe I do have the original radio/tape player.
New weather-stripping surrounding the doors and T-Tops, along with a new headliner were installed in 2006.
As I said, this car was an "every-day driver" in the late 80's and early 90's. Since then, it has been driven apporximately 200 miles per year, if that. Always stored inside, it is not a show car, but runs and looks very good.
Make offer. Car is located in North Dakota.
