GNX Flares on the back only?

IMHO, it would look goofy with just the rear wheel flares. Probably just as goofy as on old Corvette does with just rear flares.
If you want wider rubber on the back, then I would look into a rear frame notch which would allow you the luxury of installing 10+ inch wide rims. GNX flares still have the factory wheel lip that they attach to. Removing the wheel lip will leave you no place to attach the flare unless you glass them to the body. Either way yoi will spend money and do some cutting on the car. Frame notch would be the way to go.

I thought about that, but here's where I'm at:
I want to run a VERY big drag radial on the car. BFG makes a 345/55/15, which if you do the math is a nearly 30" tire. I can notch the frame, but I can only go so far in before I run out of room. I was hoping the flares would give me enough room to get the tires under there, without having the tire sticking outside of the body.
I was planning on having them glassed on btw, so that I could cut out everything behind them. No so worried about the money, just need to make sure the car looks clean/somewhat stock

The last GNX I worked on had the inner lip cut out and had tabs on the outside of the fender pop-riveted to the sheet metal to hold the inner and outer fender well together. Would give you a little more room.Sorry to hear about your T/A..... that sucks. I remember the car from the SFFBA. 
When did it get heisted?
When I was doing my GNX clone, I put the rears on first. I had it that way for a week until I did the fronts the following weekend. It looked sort of OK, but the car didn't really look balanced. The car looked much better after adding the fronts.

Well, all the chickies are wearing bell bottom hip huggers again, why not totally go 70's and flare just the rears. It is all your personal choice, not something I would do, but, hey, it's your reputation. lol,,,,,Mark

LOL! Stock looking with a 30" Tall BFG out back.
I just went with the mini tubs, and frame notching.
While we were in there also converted to coil over.
Alot more work, but to me, I love the look.
I don't see where the flare gets you much since you have to keep the back of the car so high to have any real suspension travel. With notching you can move the tire in slightly and have a ton of travel with a large tire. Mine's lowered a little, and I have 285/40 17 clearing everything, and with a little lip rolling could have 315s and room, with it still being low.
While the GNX flares do look nice, I'd think you'd need all four to balance the look out. But, justa opinion.

I know someone locally that has an 88 Cutlass with a frame notch that fit 29x13.50x15 Et Streets.
John Bzdell over at www.montecarloss.com has 335/35ZR17's on the back of his Monte that also had the frame notch. You can fit larger rubber under the back of a frame notched G body than you will ever need with a stock block. This considering there are guys running 7's and 8's on a 28x10.50 tire.
