Well to make a long story short I bought my car and it had this LS1 MAF and Translator setup on it already (I did not put this thing on) and I don't like it for my own reasons (please don't try to tell me I should stay with it because I've made my mind up)........ I want to go back to the stock MAF sensor setup so my basic question is where can I buy a new or reconditioned factory MAF sensor? I think I heard that ATR sells them, but is there anywhere else where I could buy one?? Another question I have is besides taking off the LS1 MAF and Translator is there anything else I will have to change to go back to the factory MAF sensor??

I would really appreciate an answer to these questions so I can get this thing back to the track running the way I want it to!!!

TIA for any help:)

Ummm, how much you want for your setup?? :D

I'll let you know when it's off my car and up for sale........ I'm going to let it go for a pretty cheap price cause I won't be needing it......

there's the rub, you cannot find a good, reliable stock MAF anywhere.....it is a crapshoot, thus the Translator

good luck in your search, but if it was me, I'd find out why the Trans isn't working right

Go with a ME-R and never worry about a MAF again.

No ME-R for me at this point (don't want to spend the money for the ME chip as well as all the other stuff you have to buy to go MAFless and honestly my car isn't fast enough for that setup at this point)..........

Thanks for the suggestion though and please let me know how your car runs with the combo in your sig cause it looks like it should be a wicked ride!

I'm willing to try the crapshoot at this rate Woody......... So who sells these rebuilt/reconditioned MAF sensors?? Is ATR the only place?

Brick,
I don't know how fast the car is right now, but I'll find out when I build the new motor. I don't want to take a chance driving over the crank with a bone stock block.
I went make a couple of low(23#) boost runs a little wile ago and it felt way faster than it felt with my old combo (11.20's).
I'm looking for low 10's with this set up.

I was 1000 miles from home when I started to get a "Check engine" light. I did the tap-tap-tap and sure enough it caused the engine to stumble. I went to Adavanced Auto Parts and bought a new aftermarket unit. It looks like it kind of hourglasses in the middle a bit, but my car seems to like it. I have about 5k on it since with things going well. The wires plug in the correct direction and it looks more stock than many rebuilt units. So just to let you know there are new replacements out there. Check your local parts store.

How much did the new aftermarket MAF sensor cost you from Advanced? The one ATR sells (new aftermarket unit as well) is $240 so I'm just trying to get an idea...... I'm guessing it might be the same one ATR sells...... Please let me know:)

Try Jay's GN.

Autozone, 79.99 lifetime warranty. Alot of them suck so keep bringing it back until you find one your car likes.HTH

NAPA sells a good remanufactured MAF.
It's a Cardone unit and it's not hourglassed.
They are under $100 and guaranteed for a year.
I have one on my TTA and it works great.

just curious, what made you want to go back to the factory MAF? not gonna try to keep you or change your mind, just wondering.

Even though I don't have one i'm curious also :)

NAPA - Echlin brand.
A1 Cardone seems to work good as well.
I'd personally avoid the hourglass ones but some people have been having good luck with them.

I've got a couple of good MAFs around here. One OEM, One after market. Sell or trade if you want...I wouldn't mind having a translator around, I don't need pics, I know what they look like.
I'm soon to go MAFless, so I'll actually have 3 come first of the year. PM or e-mail me.
