Good Alternative to ANS Performance

Hello to everyone in the chicago area.

Finally got around to buying my dream car after a long 18 year wait. It is a silver turbo t limited with 15K orginal miles. It feels like 1987 for me all over again!

Imagine my dismay when I drive out to Melrose Park to have Pete Barton work on my car and he tells me that he has closed up shop and will not be working on any more turbo buicks :( :(

The car needs its first tune up. The only thing has ever been changed on it are the plugs. Also the car failed the smog and emissions test

Does anyone have or know of a suitable replacement for ANS performance in the chicago area? Any contact info would be greatly appreciatted

Hell I even drive a little bit out of state to find someone who I can trust with my car and who knows what they are doing.

Does anyone have any experience (positive or negative) with Gary Oswald of Street Perfromance in Elk Grove or Richard Slawinski of Precision Engine and Machine in Sleepy Hollow?

Also looking to upgrade the brake system to a high performance one so any mechanics that could do that as well would be appreciatted. Man..... why did they make the brakes so ****ty on these cars

People can send me a private message if they wish or respond via this public board.

Looking forward to meeting you guys at several car shows and events when the weather gets a little warmer!

Thanks!
Dan

I'm willing to help for a small fee of the gas to get out there and maybe like $20 or $30 for my time. I don't have a whole lot of experience on TB but I've done all the work on my TTA. I'm extremely mechanically inclined so if you're interested in just some help and doing the job yourself to make sure it's done correct and neatly let me know.

Car work

Drop me a pm there are few around. I'll get back with you sunday. getting ready to go to 41 on Sat. for street car chaos.

Gary Oswald worked on my car and my buddy's cars, the work was good. The only issue I had was that it seemed he was always too busy, I would always have to wait a week or two to get the car looked at. He knows his stuff though, he has been working on turbo buicks since the mid-eighties.

Are you referring to Pete's yellow race car? Is that the one you purchased? Just curious. I work in Melrose Park at Navistar and I used to stop over and see Pete quite often.

Pete is working at Precision Turbo in Indiana.

pete does work for precision turbo

oswald moved to rockford then got kicked out of town. he gave all his engines and machines to mpg racing engines in highland park they do alot of big block drag engines.

dont know of anybody in illinois that even works on gn's anymore. speed inc says they do but i went there and its all camaro, typhoons, and impala ss 94-96.

Ask Dean at DRC transmissions in elk grove village for a number on the guy next door to him that works on GNs. He is pretty good! In fact his old t type went 10.30s with ported irons and stock cubes back in the late 90s. It actually the white t type shell in the CTS pic background. PM me if you need more info.

Last Time I seen the car it was Blue. And at the Grove. The former Yellow car that is.

It would be a shame if it did close. Broadway Bob made the grove into what it was and then sold it for it to get run down, broken promises, over priced, etc.
What it needs is Ron Leek and BJ to go over there and show em how its done. Theres no comparison. Just look in the ****ters, that shows the quality of people they attract.

Update again--the agenda has been posted publicly, as of the 22nd--yesterday. AND, our issue is now listed on the agenda. BUT, after a few phone calls **I have been told by sources on both sides of the fence that NO action will be taken at this time** due to absences (or something like that). I would not "ring the alarm" on this at this point, but wanted to keep everyone posted with the latest details as they become available. I plan to attend to observe, and maybe enjoy a little "tavern social" afterwards. If you wish to attend, please remember that IF ANY DISCUSSIONS TAKE PLACE ON THE MATTER, THEY WILL BE WITH RESIDENTS ONLY. A dignified and respectful presence on our part will certainly not hurt anything, but "loud hooliganism" will likely backfire severely. If you are unable to maintain your composure, please obstain from attending this meeting. We will try to bring as many details back as possible to share with everyone.
