Where's the best place to buy a new oil drainback tube for the turbo? I'm going to install a new TE-60 (Craig) which should arrive this week and want to put a new tube on - is solid better than braided (assuming braided is available)?

www.johnsperformance.com Go to "Engine Parts", it is $46.00.

He has a nice braided one. It is a little tricky to get in. I made sure the ends swiveled before I put it in. I attached the turbo flange first and then screwed it into the block and the attatched the flange to the turbo, I used telfon on both sides. Oh, I have a stock turbo and it was out before I screwed the tube into the block. The gasket it comes with is fairly think so you might want to get slightly longer bolts (about 1/4 inch or so, you can cut longer ones if you like)

It is a nice piece! You wont be disappointed!!

He has some other nice stuff too, like the control arm bushing heat shield!

Make SURE you clean or replace the oil feed line as well! If there is any dirt or crap in there it will take out turbo in record time. Yep I learned the hard way!

Excellent point Randy. Thanks and I'll certainly do that!

That Turbosaver you're purchasing will replace the oil feed line.

Hey, you're right! I gotta get that ordered today too!

Yes, replace the oil feed, I was told the warranty would be void if I did not replace that.

Both the stocker and the braided drain lines work fine.

Braided looks better, Johns Performance has them as well as the braided feed line which I guess you won't need due to the turbo saver.

Replacing with a John's Performance Drain Tube

Just looking at the pic of the John's Performance Drain Tube, it looks like one end (the one that threads into the block) has to make a pretty sharp turn - is that an issue?

Anyone here running his piece and had any problems?

Tip: Replace the turbo-drain bolts with studs and nuts. Makes getting it all hooked back up mucho easier.

By the way, thank TurboJimmy for that one as I got that from him. :D

Studs are a great idea.

And it bends fine to line up.

Works well on both my cars, very difficult to install without 8mm studs in the turbo however.

I just found it a PITA to get things lined up and get TO the area to work. With the studs, the drain can be installed in the block then just hook it onto the studs and your set. I even used a SMALL smear of RTV on the gasket and glued it to the turbo first.

Thanks guys. Got the tube coming from John's Performance and will get the studs in the next day or so.

Thanks again.

I use pipe dope myself. ;)

Teflon is good for more than 300F I think. :)

Don't break my 1 1/4" wrench. :D

PS: Downpipe bung works great, thank your cousin da welder.
