What is a good price for a unabused posi rear end out of a gn 60,000 miles and aluminium drums?

Whatever the market will bare. Supply and demand more or less. They usually trade in the $750 range. BTW posi rears didn't come from the factory with aluminum drums unless yours came out of a GNX or they were added. There is a code stamped on one of the axle tubes. If you can post it and I'll check to see if it is factory posi or somebody added the posi carrier. If it aint legit than you can probally figure it aint a 60K original. Buyer beware.

Then it was an open rear.

The street in front of my house says otherwise. :D Dunno, maybe the brakes weren't original.

I had heard a rumor that many of the WE4 cars had them reguardless, but who knows.

 that's the first time I've ever heard that!

my '87 GN t-top car had aluminum drums and the G80 code on the RPO sticker. I recently had to remove the aluminum drums because the steel liners were too thin to re-machine.

That is what i have always heard..... :)

My WE4 has posi. and steel drums, bought it new.

Lots of people added them to the TR's to lighten them up. :)

Trust Eric on the codes and what is original GM equipment.

Like I've said a million times, if you didn't personally walk your car down the assembly line than who knows what happened. I've analized hundreds of SPID labels for turbo Regals. Here is what I can report as fact based on that information. If your car came with alloy wheels and no posi than you should have aluminum drums. If your car came with steel wheels and no posi than you got steel drums. If your car came with posi than you have steel drums reguardless of the wheel type. Here is how you can check by using the codes from your SPID label. It is on the bottom of your trunk lid. This is on all 1984 to 1987 turbo Regals. If your car has one of the following codes:
N89 Aluminum wheel
N90 Aluminum wheel
And does not have the G80 posi code than you should also have the code J42 which is the code for aluminum drums. If your car has the following codes:
N89 Aluminum wheel
N90 Aluminum wheel
N83 Steel wheel
G80 Posi
Than you will also have the code J41 which is the code for steel drums. The only exception to this are the 1986 models. For some reason Buick decided not to put that code on the labels. This only applies to 1986. You will see the J42 code on an 86 SPID label if it does not have G80 posi. Every 1987 TR will have the J50 code which just means it has a powermaster brake booster. Late build or early build cars are the same. I have not found one label that contradicts these facts except maybe the GNX's. I have seen aluminum drums on low mileage bone stock examples but you wont see the J42 code anywhere on a GNX label. Maybe Joe Harrington or one of the other GNX experts can chime in and confirm this as fact. Now if by chance somebody does have a SPID label that says otherwise than please post a picture of it here. Dealer added parts dont count here. Just the factory installed stuff.

original question still isn't answered, and it is an 86' gn with the g80 code and aluminium drums i am not sure if they were added or not
