goofed up valve spring change

Here is my story:

We do all 12 springs no problems. No lost keepers, no dropped valves.

Then, as we are about to put the valve covers on, we notice we forgot to put a new seal on one of the valves.

We take the rocker bar off, plug in the air hose, take off the spring, take off the old seal. I go to put the seal on and POOF, no more valve.

The compressor has a slow leak, and it dropped below 20psi. The valve dropped in to the engine. We had made sure each piston was at TDC for each time, except this time.

We tried picking the valve up with a magnet pen, and using a wrench to turn the crank, but we just couldn't get the valve stem to line up "just right" in to the hole.

I am calling it a night, and I think we are going to try to take the intake manifold off tomorrow to see if we can't center the valve more that way.

Hey Jim,

I feel sorry for you, something like that would happen to me.

The only way your going to get that valve out is taking of the head, yes I SAID IT!!!

How much time are springs suppose to take off 1/4?

Funny, if you READ the thread, you'll see he got it out without removing the head.
