Grand Prix curved fender braces not fitting

In my junkyard adventures I found a set of GP fender braces. All the ones I saw were curved. I installed them and they hit the hood before it can close. I bolted these up to the factory holes I. The rad support and bolts that connect the inner and outer fender skins. Is there a way to mount these lower, or do I need to ditch them and make some straight ones like I see on other members' cars?

A hole will need to be drilled into the metal fender brace below the point where the brace bolts to the fender to allow the hood to shut. Since our cars did not have factory underhood braces, all installs will require new bolts in the fender braces.
