With the TCI shift kit it say to drill the convertor hole the same size as the one in your current plate. An X plate has a square hole. I drilled it .185--OK? Can you give me some details on what this hole is for and does. My friend says I don/t have to drill it with a N/L con.--Thanks

Lee,

.185 is adequate for that hole. However, your buddy is correct in that you do not even need this hole when running a N/LU converter as this just provides the signal oil to the TCC valve in the pump.

what is the value of enlarging this hole greg?i dont really see it as necessary, please explain.

Chris,

The spacer plate we make for our valve body kit is universal in that the TCC hole is left completely off. That way it can be used with the old, governor-operated TCC valve body valve or the later style valve bodies. The installer simply needs to match up the old plate to the new one and transfer the hole through.

Of course, with Lee running a non-LU converter, he doesn't even need to worry about it.

We don't, in-house, either, but you never know what a valve body kit customer will have in his vehicle.
