On the 1984-1986 Regals, other than one was black and one was silvery-argent, was there any difference between a grille from a T type/Grand National as opposed to a regular Regal?
besides color there are two designs of 84-86 grill
the regal/T has the thicker fins on the ends and the center and 6 more thick fins spaced out across the grill and also has the mounting recess and tabs for the regal or ttype badge,
the other gn style has fins all the same size except for the thick chrome ends and center fin and doesnt have recess or tabs behind for a badge
in 87 they are all same appearance whether chrome or black , a can of paint and a change to a buick badge can make a regal grill look like a gn
Paul is almost correct. There are three basic Regal grilles. The 84-86 GN is based on the 1984 Regal grille. 84 Regal has all of the vertical fins the same width with the center fin being thicker than the others. The 84-86 GN used this grille painted black. 1985 and 1986 Regal used the grille that Paul described with the thin fins seperated by thicker fins. The 85-86 T-Types also used this base Regal grille with the fins painted black. And we all know what the 87 Regal grille looked like. Three basic grilles just painted black depending on what model of car they were on.
