A friend wants to attend a private event at a rented strip..wants the best from his GN. It has small roller cam-P&P heads..steel caps--good rods and pistons. LT67-"P" trim 60# injs. Older ESP front mount. One 255lt Walbro hot wired. What fuel would be best for him. VP109 unleaded and Alky or C16...I though I read somewhere on here that C16 and Alky don't mix that well but I can't find the post now?. I plan to get him a new chip. Our best at the pumps here is 91 and that can't be trusted. FWIW the car has the Alky Control System (Razors) Thanks for your input.
Thanks

I would say run the C16, but what has it but "tuned" to run optimally at would be the correct choice... The tune would change between the 3 choices enough to be noticeable I feel sure....

Sounds like the car already is setup and runs with Alky, what are those specs, 23 degrees and 22psi etc?

BTW, VP109 I would say isn't so 109 in the end IMO.

TYPICAL VALUES
• Color: Clear
• Motor Octane 101
• Research Octane: 109
• R+M/2: 105
• Specific Gravity: .722 at 60° F

I'd find a local 110 leaded (Citgo, Phillips etc) and run that with the Alky tune you currently have and call it a day.

How fast is the car?

With heads, roller cam, small turbo should run mid-upper 10's. You can do that on pump gas or use the VP109 and meth system. Teh meth system will supplement the 60's he's running. And give hime better cooling.

You can run C16 with the meth system, just need to tame down the nozzle. The nozzle that comes with the kit is an M15. I would say like an M10 would be better if you went that route.

Aside.. the ET the car runs mid-high 10's should be doeable no problem on crappy 91. But its your choice on what to do.

Bottom line.. start at low boost and work your way up. There is no "easy" button.

I'd run the c16 straight and run 22-23* and as much as 30psi for a grudge race. Just shoot in enough alky to drop the air charge temp down to ambient.

I like that one right there. C16 was the only fuel I used for the many years my car was a track car only, this was before the good alky systems of today.
This car in mention has never been down a drag strip but it's a strong street car. My main concern is this LT67 will out run the one 255 pump long before it's ever maxed out. Alky and pump pi$$ are great on the street (I highly recommend it everyone who wants any kind of performance on our crappy 91) but I don't have the faith in it that I do good race gas .Thanks to all that posted.

I agree... With only the "small" single pump and a combination of the LT67/60's you could run into trouble. You'll either need the Alky to supplement the fuel, or need another pump.

I agree! I'd do the VP and alky if you plan to crank the boost high. I hope he has a wideband and a datalogger.

I tried running5 gallons of VP110 leaded once. It fouled the plugs that it would almost die on the burnout. Ran great once it got into boost. I should have upped the timing to take advantage of the octane. I've had my best times on 91+alky.
