Thinking about upgrading from a TE45A to a GT6776 Turbo. The GT6776 is supposed to spool ok with a 3000 rpm converter. Is this correct? How well does the GT6776 run compared to the TE45A?................Thanks

Might search in the 'turbos' area. Last I checked there were several stickies with good info at the top of the page...

That seems like a very small upgrade, not even worth the money really.

Is your 45a a Q-trim or P-trim?

The 45a has a 66mm compressor. t could be a 76 trim exhaust (p-trim) like the 6776 or Q trim. The Q-trim will need a 3600 stall if its a journal bearing. A 3000 will work most of the time with the p trim versions of both but a 3200 is a better choice.

Actually I was trying to get the best turbo for spooling/power while using a 3000 stall converter. I know that the GT6776BB is supposed to spool pretty quickly. My current TE45A is not a BB Turbo and my stall is too low for it. Long story, I recently had a TKR (Knee Replacement) and it is easier for me to change a turbo than a converter. Do you have a better idea? I don't trust anyone other than myself to work on my GN as there are no "GN" shops around here. :(

should be fine with the BB6776. My buddy had a journal bearing 6776 with a 3000 stall and it spooled pretty slow on the street. It worked fine at the track though.

I just replaced my TA-61 with a GT 62-65 dbl BB . I'm running a Art Carr 9" non lock up that has been tightened up to about 3000 stall. On my car, this combo is spot-on perfect. The thing drives around town like a bone stock GN. When I hit the go pedal, it walks cars with bigger turbos. I highly recommend the new dbl BB turbos for a street driven, or street/strip Turbo buick.

Hope to have my car on the dyno in the next week. Should see 500-550 RWHP on 91 oct and meth.

Happy spooling.
