I drove my car on the freeway for only one exit and it sounded like the transmission wasnt shifting and the automatic OD was not working either, I was skeptical to push it past 55mph in fears of doing damage to the engine or transmission because it was running hard and the engine sounded like it was running at a high RPM... any advice?:(

Hook up a tach and see what it's really doing. This should tell you if it's at least shifting right. Someone may have changed the tranny out to a 3 speed so you might want to look at the pan and see what it looks like. Shape and how many bolts?

I have had mine do this before as well. I dropped the pan cleaned the valvebody and it helped a bunch. It has only done this to me 1 time since doing that. Just a thought. I dont know about you but mine is all original with 85k miles, and I am not very easy on it! lol I am planing a rebuild this winter anyways. I figured it isnt going to hurt anything, plus I am probably on borrowed time as it is. Just a thought
