Ok i have had a hard start problem since i bought the car in 07. Since then i have completly rebuilt the engine almost all new sensors. I want to say its fuel related because it floods it self and this sounds weird but i have to pump it for it to start. And what should the fuel pressure be at. thanks for any help you guy can give

It sounds like a weak spark issue. Did you replace the coil pack or ign module, or just the sensors?? How about the MAF sensor, original (84-85) or do you have the 87 ECM/MAF upgrade?? If you are running the 86-87 ECM/MAF, did you get a remaned one or a known good original??

i did replace the maf .but the coil, ign, and ecm are still stock. i will check spark and see if it is weak. thanks

i checked spark has good spark. but i did find that the egr diag switch on the drivers valve cover is not working. could this cause the starting issue? if so where can i find a new one?

Have you done spring cleaning?
Does the fuel pump whine, sound load? can you hear it standing by the bumper?

MAF/CAM sensor could be wrong/faulty.
Did you reset/Set the TPS/IAC sensors? What sensors are new?

When it runs, how well does it idle, drive, etc?

fuel pump is kind of loud. new maf sensor not sure if its for 86 87 i order it for an 85. cam sensor is stock. has a high idle runs good when driving but dose have a slight hesatation at take off. have not set the tps yet doing that tomorow and i dont have a scan tool yet to ajust the iac i am looking for one if any one is selling one

You can take it out(IAC) run power to see if it's working(needle moving back/forward) Never did this myself but it's a way to check to see if it's working/stuck.

Is the fuel stock? if so could be going out, anytime the pump sounds load(ish) or whines it's going out or working to hard(collapsed fuel sock, clogged fuel filter) most of the time it's the sock, even more so if it's stock. They have upgraded units that are made better.

As for the MAF, the 86/87 I see no reason why it wouldn't work. If you have a 85 ECM, now if you have a 86/87 ECM and are using a 85 MAF then it' wouldn't work to well IMO.

Check all your VAC lines for any leaks. Most common leaks are from back of the intake( map sensor to intake) lines.

I meant Fuel pump for above question. is the fuel stock? haha Sorry. and loud not load ghezz, making BBQ (at the time) and reading throught TR threads gotta love it.

sad thing is i knew what you ment but thanks for clearing it up:).the guy i bought the car from put a new tank in not sure if he did the pump too. i will check the iac and tps tonight. i do have a question i posted before and never realy understood i can not find the map sensor on my car someone said it wont have one because it is a digatal dash car do you know anything about that. thanks for the help

I would think even if it's digital it should have the MAP sensor but i'm analog.
It should be located on the passenger fender wall. Should have a VAC line going right into it. It should be a Stock 2bar sensor, most upgrade to 3-bar. Tho only if you run anything higher then 15lbs of boost.
HOT AIR TURBO/SFI this should help
