got no spark got crank and cam signal bought a module and coil from ??? on here and its NFG can i save some money on 86/87 ign, module conversion i know i dont need that plate cause i can drill holes in old mounting plate advance auto sells coil n module is there anyway around buying adapter plug thats almost $100:confused:

there is an adapter plug made by BWD, the company advance auto parts carries, you just need the part number. I have searched easily 15 different illustrated catalogs to find the number and I can't, so if someone on here can get the part number I would appreciate it too and we can both save a buck.

If you're careful, the instructions at Jerry's link will work. I did similar thing in order to swap to the '86-7 crank sensor connector. But due to the age & design of these harnesses there's practically no margin for error.

And since I'm the ??? the OP refers to, I feel partly responsible for this thread. We've all heard, "It worked when I took it off," many times before; next time I'll know to test & verify, especially something like this. Despite making restitution, I still feel like an a$$ for adding to the frustration. :frown:

Mike, I was curious about the BWD adapter too so I just called them directly. They couldn't find a part number in their system either and suggested that it's no longer being made? That would be too bad, as the only alternative is $$.

that would explain it dave, they made a lot of adapter harnesses when the older style modules were discontinued, but they are back, so the harnesses may be back. the confusion of being a parts guy
