From my understanding Mustang guys are running 8's with this tranny and very few problems. It looks like its the best of both worlds. You get the aggressive gear ratios (1st and 2nd gear) of a T400 and the overdrive of a 200R with all the drivability of a stock tranny. If I am not mistaken it has the same stock location for tranny lines and with a modified bell housing it uses the same stock cross member, Oh and the best plus to me is it still uses the stock shifter. What are your views on this? How much is this tranny for a 9 sec GN?

Check out my post AOD in a Buick??? and youll see.Not as costly as building a 200r4

i would like to say i will work closely together with anyone wanting to do this.

Chris, Get in touch with me, Maybe depending on $ maybe ill go this route, I was gonna build a 400 w/ Brake,
But my new motor is a stage motor with an 80mm turbo, should run in the mid 9S.
What kinda cost with convertor? manual valve body w/brake.
Otto

I was wondering since mine has a brake is it also going to be reverse shift pattern and manual valvebody???

forward pattern valve body and you must hit the transbrake button to back up.this trans has a neutral safety switch so yo can wire the transbrake solenoid thru the reverse lights if you dont want to hit the button.

How heavy is this tranny compared to the 2004R? Last question I have is, Does it also use the stock wiring harness that plugs into the tranny for lock up converters? If not what has to be done to run a lock up converter with a Felpro Bank to Bank?

Chris how about a an AODE with a "baumanator" (?) I have a buddy that has built MANY 9 sec cars with this setup and no problems. Is this a possability?
Mike

what is a baumontor?we are working on an electric shift 3 speed aod for hi horsepower with no 3/4 clutch drum.no im not high ,no 3/4 clutch drum.both hands on the wheel all the way down the track .we already have this feature on our th400s.shifts off the tach ,and the kickdown solenoid into second.

Chris, when I was talking to a couple tranny shops up here they said that it will not be a 4 speed tranny down the quatermile when racing. Is this true? Is the overdrive just a crusing in the city feature only, or can it be used at the track as well? I am very interested in this setup if it will allow me to use the overdrive down the 1/4 mile.

i dont see the benefit of using it in the 1/4 but you can if you want to .its main function is reduced engine rpm at high road speeds.

Chris: One thing I just thought about tonight was the plate in the floor shifter[detent?].Does it have to be changed for the proper positions for an AOD?

lock up

Do you eleminate the lock up in 3rd-like lentech?

turbo lou czarnota of orange county california has just completed the transplant on a stage 2 buick .while the anesthesia is wearing off we are prepaing a page dedicated to this operation.stay tuned.

What would be needed for an AOD swap into a GN?

I have one laying around doing nothing from a '93 LX

thanks
