Has anyone used alky to "limp" their car to the gas station?

I've heard a few people say they've ran their TR out of fuel and was able to use the alky in the tank to sort of limp to the gas station. How?

Test button. Pushing the test button shoots fuel into the motor.

3X

Never hurt a fuel pump either. :p

Luckily 2X was sorta downhill. :)

It's easier than driving a car with NO MAF for a week.

So if you push the test button after running out of fuel, about how long can you drive for before you have to push the button again?

Assuming my alky talk was full how many miles can it go on the alky alone?

I say you dont let your car run out of gas so you dont have to find out.

This question is like how long can I put my finger on a hot turbo before it burns the skin.:D

I don't intend to let it run out of fuel, just that someone was claiming theirs did run out and they used their alky kit to limp them to the fuel station. Almost sounded bogus to me that's why I was asking.

my fuel pump crapped out on my Ford Ranger once upon a time. I put gas in the windshield washer reservoir and ran the washer hose into the carb. Drove almost 50 miles like that and got 'er home. Redneck engineering!

Yes It Works....

Happened to me. I used the test button to get it from 9th Ave. to 17 Ave. I turned the gain up to 8 and had to kinda of pulse the button at times to keep from flooding it. I had just put a new pump and used sender in and thats how I found out the sender was a tad bit off...

You have to pulse it a lot to keep it running and it also depends on which kit etc.

I have EFI pumps that run about 70psi. into an M10 with the test button pushed so it's not that hard to make the car run.

Then you are also getting gas at times too when it sloshes around down there so that helps or hurts on occasion.

I had to go less than 1/2 mile all three times luckily but had to follow cars brake and drive the thing too, still not as bad as driving one with no MAF for a week.

I will also confirm this.

I don't usually let my tank get empty because the Fuel pump can overheat.

Well, this particular day I decided to drive the Buick, I was running late and went to my appointment before the Sunoco.

On the way to the gas station I lost fuel pressure. I have a dual nozzle system so I turned the gain way down and used the test button to get into the gas station.

It really works.
