I bought some ARP head bolts(part # on the box 123-3603) from one of the TB vendors and time comes to put the heads on and the bolts bottom out because the threads do not extend far enough up the bolt like the stock ones. I checked on another vendors site and they sold the same set. Do I have the wrong set or am I doing something wrong. One washer per bolt? Any ideas please!

Each set has three different lengths included. Make sure your using the right bolts in the correct positions.

I have the three length bolts in there respective spots in a head on the work bench so all three stick out the bottom the same. The problem is there is is still about a 1/2 " of the bolt sticking out below the head with no threads.

they might be miss boxed from arp. the 84-85 bolts are diffrent then the 86-87 for some reason. that i know....

After looking at it agian I measured the amount of unthreaded shaft as the bolt sits in the head and then noticed that the threads in the block don't start at the top but down aways. Measured that distance along with the head gasket and it came out fine. Bolted the head on. Just a rookie taking his time making sure i don't make a mistake.
