ordered a set of Fel-Pro head gaskets today for my 85' GN, and i wanted to check here to see if the company sent the right ones. theres a few different #s on the label, and im not sure which one is the actual part # so ill just list them all:

8723 PT-1
10099
940830

also there is a statement that says "replaces No. 25518453"

did i get the right ones?

I'm not sure about the part number, but why did you go with Fel-pros over the stock steel shim gasket? The stock gaskets are quite a bit cheaper and better than the felpros.

i didnt know the stock ones were better. i always thought aftermarket stuff is supposed to be stronger, etc over the stock parts. is it the same for the intake manifold gasket? cause i ordered a fel-pro one of those too

guess ill have to call a few dealerships tomorrow to see if any of them stock these gaskets.

Hey fag, whose turbo car runs? Your white oil consuming LS1 turd is getting whored out when I get to Bakersfield.... If I don't blow a headgasket on the way down.

I think me and cool84 should have a head gasket changing contest... After about 2 dozen SETS of gaskets, I think I got pretty good at it too! LOL I'm surprised the threads in the block are still in one piece!

Stock steel shims are hands down the best gasket for hot airs. So are the stock bolts. IMO ARP sucks for hot airs. It may work for others but not for me... They seem to be too hard and don't stretch properly. Since switching to stock steel gaskets and new stock bolts I haven't blown one gasket yet!

Ok, actually one. But it doesn't count... My car was at the body shop and I got it back with a blown head gasket and a "It must have been blown before" excuse from the shop owner. YEAH RIGHT! The shop grease monkeys took it out on the back roads and let it rip I'm sure.

Fel pro intake gasket is just fine though. I use it myself.

I got it down to 3 hours. Could be quicker if I had stock headers. It's funny, I was going through my trunk the other day and found 4 sets of blown headgaskets. FWIW, I found the problem after the 6th set. Heads had been machined too many times and the deck was too thin. After I put new flat heads on, I couldn't blow a gasket even when I hit over 30psi on 87 octane and blew a hole in a cylinder.

This time I went with ARP studs. Mostly because I didn't want to risk cracks with the bigger bore on the 4.1 but also just in case I had the same problem again I would wear out the studs and not the holes in the block.
