I am about to install new GN1 aluminum heads on my motor, and wanted to know what is working well with these heads. Seems each vendor has a different preference. I figure I ask the guys on this board what your using and what's been working good.
Motor is a 109 block 020 over with J.E pistons. Thanks.

SCE, Cometics, idk about shims on Al head, but they work good for me on irons.

Just tune it right and you'll go pretty far on pretty much any gasket.

Phil

The problem is if you make a mistake in your tuneup.. there is no forgiveness with a HD gasket. Actually with aluminum.. your hosed if something bad happens.

All the local cars I know of that run aluminums.. run the Cometic.. but like Kung Fu.. you have to walk on the rice paper and not leave a mark..

Keep your egt's down and dont have any knock.

Good Luck.

I was thinking of the GM gaskets just for those reasons!!
(the good old pressure releif valves) I spoke to one of the popular vendors on this board, and he said to stay away from the cometics!! He has seen to many meltdown's with them.

I know there's still a few other choices out there, !!!!!!!!!!!

What's going on Louie, tried e-mailing you to see how your car's doing, and got kicked back!!! Hope all is well.

Mike,
My server is acting the fool. try again. I keep getting spamed to hell and that crap gets thru just fine...

why? they wont hold up with out it on a 109?
My 109 torched the head before the gasket went

What were you using that torched the head before gasket!!!
Dont want to get caught up in that situation. Especially while trying to dial in a good tune!!!

I read somewhere that the Yamabond is real good stuff. I believe Yamaha uses it on their engines for the heads with no gaskets just the Yamabond.

Cometics with spray copper and a correct tune.

Thats how my new ones are done.. so far 30 days and counting :D

I run Cometics with the copper spray, I have around 4k on them now... put the GM seal tabs in when right away just in case of minor water leaks. I have beat on this car hard running 20+ pounds of boost everytime I drive it.
