Can anyone tell me if I have to take the whole crossover pipe off in order to take off my driver's side header? Or do I have enough play in the crossover pipe to move it down a little to get the header out? Since I'm taking out my steering column for painting and installing a Jeep steering shaft, this looks to give me a lot of room to get the header out. Some of you said the header has to come out the bottom....the GN is up on jackstands, wheels off, so I have access to all bolts so far.

You think I'll have to move the crossover or should I just leave it in the original position?

All you have to do is unbolt the crossover pipe from the header. Then just lift the header out from the top. I've never heard of the header coming out the bottom of the car. With the control arms and steering shaft on one side and the downpipe on the other don't even think it's possible. The only part that would come out from the bottom is the crossover pipe.

well actually thats how i took of my header...
i unbolted the crossover from both sides and it was easier to drop the header
u might get it out witout loosening the crossover bolts...i almost had it but just gave up and just loosend the bolts...u really dnt have to remove them just loosen them a bit..i will give u enough play

u can also reach the bolts from the top except the bottom rear one on the header....
but taking off the wheel is much easier...
