Are you staying at the airport or closer to the exhibit hall? The Maritim hotel at the airport is pretty good, and the trains can take you to the exhibit hall.

Be sure to buy a ticket if you ride the trains. The police WILL stop you and check... they seem to have a lot of time on their hands.

Hanover is a nice blue collar town. You don't really need a car as public transportation is pretty good, but if you do get a car, its not that hard to navigate if you have a GPS with a european roads pack.

We have a hotel about 30 miles from the trade show, and then 2 nights the CEO is coming over and we are staying in the town where the event is held.

We did rent a car, and have a couple days to site see. I hope we are close to the Autobahn..... and a place to rent a sports car :D

One of my customers is located at the Airport @ Hanover and there is Unlimited Autobahn just north of Hanover. I think we hit about 130 in the driver's boss's S class (we only had about 3 miles of unlimited Autobahn before our exit).

I didn't have a car in Hanover, but you really don't need one to get from the Airport to Downtown and to the exhibit area. I've been by the Messe in Laatzen before, because I try to visit airplane museums when I visit different places and there is a small one a few blocks from the Exhibit area. It is freaking huge.

In Hanover you eat Schnitzel or fried fish and White Aparagus and drink lots of beer... which results in you realizing you drank too much beer and ate too much asparagus.

We have an office in Darmstadt.
If you are going to be around Frankfurt
I might be able to get some ideas for you.
If you go to a "parking hotel" pay cash.
You don't want that on your expense report. :)

Speaking of Cash. I usually go to europe or asia with no money. It's risky, because you really need local currency.

Rather pay the high exchange rates at the airport, I just use my bank debit card at an ATM at my destination. Then, you just pay a $2 or $3 ATM fee to get a couple hundred Euros or multiple thousand Yen or Whatever, instead of 6-10%.

look for the Union Jack symbol for instructions in English.

Thanks for the advice!! We were talking about that yesterday.

As for anyone typing in Germany here, knock yourself out because I have no friggin idea what your typing:cool: We will have a translator in the booth with us that speaks about 6 languages, and we have literature printed in about 6 languages so all is good.

Once I knock down beer, and where do I rent the Porsche for the autobahn I will be good to go

Porsche would be good, but I usually have to rent a Diesel minivan because I'm hauling customers. The most I've hit is 103 on my garmin, which felt like about 150 in my 2+2.

I can't stress enough how good a $90 European map pack for a GPS is for driving in Europe. I was showing locals short cuts they didn't know about, and finding restaraunts and attractions is much easier.

The current exchange rate sucks for buying stuff, but if you are selling stuff to Europeans it 15% easier this year and 30% easier than just a few years ago.
