headlight retainer ring black or silver? 4x6 headlight fitment issue

Are the original Grand National headlight retainer rings black or silver/chrome? The ones on my 87 GN are silver.

Has anyone had issues with 4x6 light housings not sitting snug even after tightening the retainer ring? I am having this issue with the housings I have which utilize H4 LED bulbs.

The stock headlight retaining rings are silver (believe they are stainless steel).
I elected to change mine out to black to match the GN’s dark theme.
Had no issues fitting Hella 4”x6” headlights or 4”x6” Projector LED headlights with my original retainers
