Ok im wondering if there is anyway to hook up something that will warn me when i shut down, that i have left the lights on. A simple thing i know but im curious as to if i can get this done and how. Thxs.

You could always hook up a relay to the headlight wire (input trigger) and ignition to other side and then out to a beeper ....turn the ign off with lights on and it would beep....might take 2 relays but it could easily be done. Let me know if you're going to doit and I can send you wiring instructions.

sounds good to me. if its easy enough to do and the instructions are clear id love to get them off you. THXS!

This came on many cars as an option:

T63 HEADLAMPS ON WARNING CHIME

...there should be info in the archives on how to add if you didn't get it...

Heya man, In Canada GM sell's a headlight warning buzzer pn#728545, call a GM dealer and have them order one for you(it plugs into the fuse boxs).

Should be about 8-10 bux's. I'v got a couple here if you need one.

very interested....you saying youll sell me one? one is all i need right? how much will you sell it to me for? easy to install? please let me know as i wouldnt mind doing this asap. left my damn lights on last week and needed a boost....turned a short night into a long long one.

I'm thinking I've seen the little relay deal that plugs into the fuse box at parts stores like Auto-Zone, napa. Wife used to be bad about that.

yup me too thus the reason for something to get my attention. :D

done! went to gm and got the part thxs to your help with part#.
cost
$10.02
damn cheap. thxs again for the help.:D

I did this. I went to Radio Snack, and bought a 12V chime. It only costs a couple of bucks. Hook the Pos+ to Headlight at the fuse box. Hook Neg- to Ign. or Acc. at the fuse box. Five minute install. When the headlights are on, they supply the power to the positive side. If the ignition is on, you get no ground supplied to the beeper/buzzer. When you turn off the ignition, it provides the ground you need. Works great, is cheap, easy to install, and saves you from the embarassment of telling someone that your beautiful car needs a jump because some dope left the lights on. No relays required.
Along the same lines as this. A frined's sister's car was broken into. They didn't want to spend the money on an alarm, but wanted it to look like it had one. We got a blinking LED and wired the Pos to Bat. and the neg. to Ign. Viola, it only blinks when the ignition is off.

Called a local Buick parts dept and gave them the part number. but was told the number was not correct. Would they use a different part number in the US? If not, I may have to do what Brian did. Thanks!

more than likely the US part# is different. just tell them what it is...they should be able to run it up on the computer.

FYI, the part number in the US is 25524794. Price quoted was $30.31 each.

I've been considering a delay off relay such as the expensive cars have. These are listed in the JCWhitney catalog for around $30. I am curious concerning reliability of these aftermarket units. My personal experience with non GNT-type aftermark junk is it ain't worth the trouble.
Does anyone have any input on such an item?

This is an interesting thread. I too have had the problem of walking away from the Regal and looking back to admire it and realise the damn lights are still on. I am VERY interested in a Warning tone thing that hooks up rather simple. If Fast231 wants to sell one to me please e-mail me with a price. Is this a conbstant buzz or a chiming sound...

THANKS

Brian - Wagon, has the best two cheap ideas on this topic.

Two wire hookups for buzzer and theft deterrant LED.

Easy to do and will work.

Just my .02.

Here's another idea.

Get a 12V peizo buzzer (a few bucks) there is also one that has three wires one with a constant buzz or a pulsating buzz. Wire up the positive to the parking lights at the fuse box and the ground side to the door trigger (white). So when the lights is on and when you open the door you will hear the buzz or chime. This should tank less than 5 MIN.
