Hi all -

Took the WE4 out today for the first time in a while as we finally got some nice weather. Anyway, my headlights won't work. I have parking lights, brake lights, directionals, interior, dash lights, etc, but it seems that either the switch may have gone bad or something else is awry.

I know it can't be a fuse since I believe the headlights are tied in with a fuse that controls a few different things (at least to my knowledge). Correct me if I'm wrong here. I did take a look at the fuse block and I don't see a fuse that's labeled specifically for headlights.

The strange thing is that they worked the last time I took the car out, and I haven't done anything under the hood in a year besides oil changes, etc.

Any suggestions? And if the switch is bad, can I still order one from GM? Are they hard to install?

TIA

Haven't done it, but shop manual shows replacement is simple.
1. Remove LH trim plate
2. Remove mounting screws
3. Remove switch assembly

Should be able to checkout your current switch with a basic test light.
New switch (part# 1987380) available HERE for $11.00

Dude:

I have a switch that I'll send you if you pay the postage. They are easy to install.

my regal did just the same thing, it was the dimmer switch on the column:p pat myers chas,wv

yeah, I guess it's the switch. Given this car's history as a garage queen, it's funny that the switch went bad - it's a low mileage switch :D

Roger - is that a new switch? Let me know when you get a chance....

WELL...

Now they're working.

Strange.

oh well, maybe I'll invest in a new switch down the road as this one seems to be on the way out.

thanks again for the assistance -
Rich
