Heads install

I was just wondering if there are any tricks when installing heads that I should know about? Also my dad is an old muscle car guy and said that usually when you change heads that you need to change rings too. Should I change rings too or would it be fine to just put on the heads? Thanks Jerrad

That all depends on what kind of shape your short block is in. If you didnt have any blow-by problems with the old heads on I wouldnt think you would need a set of rings. I just installed a set of heads on my motor and didnt touch the short block. It just depends on how much you want to spend and how much work you feel like doing.
