heater core a/c box question

on my ac box where the pipes come out from the evaporator core and where the heater core pipes come out there is nothing sealing those openings in the box is there supposed to be some kind of rubber seal there where the pipes come out , am i missing some pieces thanks JOHN

You use some black tar type substance (insulating matereal) to seal the evap core but it shouldn't be an issue with the heater core.

There is normally a foam seal that goes over the pipes inside the box.
