Help battery drain

Hey yall,

Me and my dad just replaced the ac system in our 87 gn and we now have a battery drain! Why? We have also been having problems with our hot wire kit shorting out so we are going to replace that tomorrow. I was wondering if the shorting would have to do correlate with the battery drain?
