HELP car starts for a second and dies

This is a new one for me! The car starts and then immediately dies. I put a fuel pressure gauge on and after the pump stopped running the pressure went to zero. So I guessed that it was either the pump or fuel pressure regulator. Regulator was easiest and cheapest to fix so strike one. Then the pump, strike two. Then I changed the plugs and wires and you guessed it I'm out of ideas. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Did you let a "friend" wire the pump hotwire? After lots of beer, its possible to wire it backwards. Key off = pump on, key on = pump off. It would give you enough fuel to start but not keep going. Based on experience.:eek:
 
Any other work done recently? What chip do you have?
 
Pump works correctly. The pressure is at 43 when starting and drops to 40 when it starts. The chip is after market but dont remember which one. Could I have a bad computer??
 
I just found out I have a Thrasher chip and someone said it has an anti-theft mode could this be the problem? The chip was in the car when I bought it.
 
Car runs without chip in please someone message me the start sequence or tell me who to get in contact with to get it. The numbers on the chip are 9230k2.560
 
If you have a chip you know nothing about then you're better off contacting Turbo Tweak and ordering a new chip. Not only will it better perform than the old school thrasher chip, but you'll have something that is built for your setup.
 
Yes but I would like a running car for the time it takes to get a new chip. Hate to just let the car set there. I can take a picture of the chip to prove that is what I have
 
Do you have an oil pressure gauge ? What is the oil pressure at start-up ?
I think there is a low oil pressure cut-off :confused:

same thing happened to me today! i drove it fine and then went to move it and it started and then stalled out the only way to keep it running was to keep the throttle open i think its my iac

highly unlikely, they rarely fail..... do you have a scan tool? what are the iac counts?

i do have a scan tool im going to hook it up today the weird thing is when i would get is running an i would tap the iac it would run better thats why i think it is sticking
 
Yes it was the anti-theft in the chip and it starts everytime when I do the start sequence
