Well......
The 49 went to a new home today, so I guess it’s time to make a decision. Here’s the ones I’m considering, TE-60, TE-61 PT-61 or a hybrid PT-6131 which has the GT-61 inlet wheel and a 44/49 exhaust wheel. I really need to make a decision fast as the motor will be back in this week. From what I listed which of these 60 series turbos would be the quick spooling with my 9” Art Carr n/l 3200 stall and still be a good upgrade over my 49? I do plan to send a .63 Garret housing to have it mated up with what ever turbo I land on. My car is mainly street driving with a couple of track visits a year.

With a 3200 converter I'd be looking at the 61 at least. The 60 is barely bigger than the 44/49.

I would say the pt61. I upgraded to that from a te44 and it is night and day. It spools just as fast as the 44 with a lot better topend.

that 44 you had will do plenty in my book ;)

Agreed.........just time to move on. It’s a real push to get them past the 7.50 mark in the 1/8.

Thanks for the feedback guys, thought I’d let you know that I landed on Limit’s GT6131e with a 63 Garret exhaust housing and a TE compressor housing, John’s recommendation. He insured me that spool up would be quicker than an old school TA/TE61 with more flow on the big end.

Good choice Scott.

Jack, I'd love to had the CPT61 Ball Bearing (my 1st choice), just wasn't in my budget due to having to correct oher issuses going on w/ the engine. :(

Maybe I'll be ready for the CPT66 BB next season. :D Conley once told me, once bitten, you always want to go faster.

Went from ta49 to te62 with no regrets. It loves high boost so thats what it gets. 30lbs per serving.

sound like you feed your car well, Im gonna need a turbo will prob try to work the one I have in my garage and buy a new exhaust housing for it havent figured out what it is exactly or go te63 or larger

There is almost 0 difference in the TE-60 and the GT61. I've had both with the 31E exhaust wheel, and ran the exact same 60' and the exact same 1/8 time once with the TE-60 which is in my sig, but 1 or 2 mph slower.
The GT6131E would do the 7.2x 1/8 time pretty consistantly in cool weather.
I have the PTE version of the 6131e with a 2700 stall convertor, so with a 3200 stall it will spool great.
