Well for the 1st time in a year I lock the doors. Using the power locks with the window down.so when I went to get back in the car I pull the lock up thru the window, and when I open the door the horn and light started beeping and I couldn't start the car. I had to undo the battery and reset it.my question is how do the alarm work and did my car come with a remote to arm and disarm from gm

I have had my car for years and did not know the alarm worked...I did the same thing you did and set it off...I got it to shut off by putting the key in the lock and turning it....

Correct. The locks have a switch inside the door that is activated when the key is used. The lock knob being pulled up by hand will not activate the switch, therefore the alarm is activated. The door switch acts the same as the keyswitch.
