At idle my blms are at 105. Car running very ragged at idle will not run well enough to drive probably.

I know that means it is extremely rich, but that is where the problem starts.

My fuel pressure line on is 32 / line off 38. Non adjustable reg.

Brand new denso 02 sensor

Tried three different ecms.

Should the car stumble if I whoop on the maf? I tried a preety good rap with my hand and it didnt effect anything.

MAF reads 9 g/s at idle I know its high.

02 is switching rich lean well.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Jerry

Interesting . . . . . .
TPS setting ok?
Are all the plugs similar?
What color?
Do you have a scantool you recard with and post a log?

Edit:
I am sure the chip is made for the injectors, so, I won't ask . . . .
Also . . . tapping on the MAF is not the best thing for these MAFs. (Read a few post on that somewhere, sometime . . )
High MAF should be adding fuel, so thats what makes this interesting.

Subscribed. Mine has similar blm readings. It reads 105 blm's on the highway when on cruise control at 60 mph. Rock steady. If I turn off cruise and get off the throttle I am at about 111-113 blm's if I have to give it any more gas.

My Int's are steady 128 off cruise coasting, but fluctuate 115-135 while driving 60 mph on cruise control....

If you need another puter to test against I have one you can borrow Jerry. We're borowing one of your PSMs this week and I can send it with him. Send me a note if you need it.

Nope no recordable scantool for that car

Ecm is stock 85, chip stock injectors stock. Whole car is very very stock. 200 miles on an nos crate motor.

The car runs fairly smooth while on the cal pak program for startup, but once on the chip it begins to run like crap.

All readings were recorded at hot idle with an OTC scanner.

LV8 48 - 50

RPM with scanner plugged in is 1000

Coolant is 165

MAF is 9 g/s

INT is between 119 - 131

IAC 28 - 30

TPS is .46 i know .02 volts high

BLMs rock steady at 105 at idle. I give the car gas as soon as I let off the pedal the blms jump up to about 111 then 108 then straight back to 105.

Checked timing with a light last night and it is jumping around like crazy at idle but then take it off idle a little and it barely bobbles a couple of degrees. Still cuts out on different cylinders every now and then but timing gets better.

Thanks for the offer charlie, Ive already tried three different ecms on the car with no effect.

I believe the car is suffering from a harness problem. Wish I had all the stuff to convert it, but if I did all the work and it still ran like crap I would be pretty put off with the car.

Good luck solving this one.

Plugs dont know yet

Will pull plugs out tomorrow, working 11 - 9 today at the zone :-(.

They are brand new autolite 25s gapped at 35. Put them in 2 days ago.

Will report back when I get some more data on those.

Anyone wanna come help me with passenger side rear?

Thanks again,

Jerry

No problem Jerry. Mine's completely stock, calpac and all. I'd come down but I'm on call today. Our part time redshirt is in the hospital and we only have 6 employees so if someone falls out I get to go in.

Well thnx Charlie

Me and my dad are already bashing our heads on the wall wouldn't want you to drive an hour just to do the same thing.

Anyways may come down to seeking prof. Help.

Probably may need a scope to determine the problem cylinder if their is just one.

My dad was thinking a vac leak on the bottom of intake but that would be high blms right?

Soulds like an electrical issue as mentioned.

The MAF reading at 9 make the ECM think your lead is high hence the 50 LV8.
Should be around 35 at idle.

Still scratching my head . . . .
I know you already tried reseating the chip, but just maybe the chip is bad, or the connections are bad . . .

This may sound stupid but I'm begining to wonder if it's not tied to the modual some how. Kinda like you have a faulty ground or bad connection some where.

Tried module and coil pack

Well Ive tried a known good coil / module when the problem first appeared and then it went away kinda then the prob came back so I retried the coil / mod with no effect.

This one is tough.

Ive even switched the esc module, and those never go bad.

More to come tomorrow.

to alb

Yes iac moves and yes 3 different mafs no result

Thanks

plugs

The plugs are now three days old with a total of about 30 minutes of combined run time in the three days.

This is the number 4 plug different angles

Jerry

Have you tried taking the chip out and plugging it back in? The more I look at the forth post the more I'm leaning toward a bad ground or wiring issue.

I would guess by the looks of that plug that maybe the plug wire has a problem.

today

reseated the chip and looked at the wire no physical damage will swap tomorrow

No change

Jerry,
Did this problem start suddenly as in "Out of the blue"?
Did you do a compression/leakdown test?

Well I'm not sure previous

We bought the car with a knocking motor and possible wrecked turbo. My dad bought an nos crate motor pulled it apart, checked clearances, put it back together and I installed it. Since first fire up it has had the problem, but we ran the cam in the best of my ability.

We did a compression test with the motor still being new. I don't think the rings were dulled seated yet but it still had 145 - 150 in every cylinder.

Plans for today include ign module positive and ground check, fuel pump relay and using my 87 ECM and maf to record data with my powerlogger.
