I put a Walbro 340 in yesterday and had to charge the battery all night. Anyways, When I start it, it fires up real choppy with gasey smelling smoke coming out the tailpipes and driver's side breather. When I give it gas it tries to die, rpms drop, and black smoke comes out the tailpipes. (I also put a new coilpack and plug wires on it.) I took the top off the coolant resiviour and find just a few small bubbles coming up every once in awhile. Also, when I shut it off and took the pressure off the radiator cap it sounded like it was going to boil over. Is this a blown head gasket/ motor and if ti's the gasket, what is the average cost to have a mechanic fix it?

Fuel pressure is set at 42 line off and stays there or drops slightly when I attempt to give it gas.

I'm going to recheck the wires and coil pack wires tommorrow but what about the bubbles in the coolant and smoke coming out of the breather? What would it cost for a mechanic to put new head gaskets on? Thanks guys.

A mechanic will charge way too much to replace head gaskets. Probably in excess of $500. I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. I agree that it sounds like you either crossed a wire or maybe you collapsed the gap on one of your plugs???? I did this once on #5 and the car ran like crap until I figured out what it was.
