Hi. The car recently went in to repair a blown head gasket. The headgasket was replaced and stock size rods were used. the heads had to be milled because of warpage. after we got the car back it ideled really high for some reason, and continued to idle really high, until now it wont even start. it starts for a second or so and burps off. i checked the maf and its fine, map sen is new, so is the tps. Idle air motor is new as well . any other thoughts. could the push rods cause this? whats the deal.

REST IAC

reset the iac. go to www.gnttype.org and there is a reset guide on how to do it. after u reset the IAC the TPS is going to be off so u need a volt meter to get it set correctly. you can also find the way yo do that at the web site above. thats all i can think of right now.

brent:D

yeah, there's a diagram of all the factory vaccum hoses floating around here somewhere, hopefully someone will post the link.

make sure your pcv valve is actually plugged in,it's in the back of the intake manifold under the throttle body, underneath all that spaghetti:D.

hopefully the shop that did your gasket didn't f-up the intake gasket when they put it in:mad: how much did they have to mill the heads?if they milled too much without removing the same amount from the intake it will never seal.but they have to mill a pretty good chunk for that to happen...

later,sean

if you do get it to start again stick a hose up to your ear and listen around the adapter between the turbo and intake ....there is an oring on both ends of the adapter and have been known to get messed up on install if not lubed up properly.

The map sensor has no effect on the way the motor runs...The ecm doesn't even know it exists...It is only used for the boost gauge on the factory analog dash...

I agree with the other's suggestions...Do the IAC reset, but you need either a scantool or an accurate tach to do it...The factory tach is junk...Also, you may need to reset the TPS...

Or you have a large vacuum leak somewhere...

hehe,

I hooked a fuel presure gauges up to the fuel rail. it only had like 2 psi or something like that, the regulator is new, so bad fuel pump. lol

Re: REST IAC

Actually resetting the TPS is done quite easy if you have a scan tool. This takes a lot less time then using a volt meter. Hope you have a scan tool. There is a fuse relay on the gas tank sometimes this is either bad or not grounded properly giving the effect of a bad fuel pump. Check you ground wire before you assume the pump died. Just another one of those things I know from experience.

Is it a stock fuel pump? Then an upgrade would be a good idea any way. Let us know if you figure it out.
