Help needed- pic of parts found in pan

Found these last night. Look like snap rings that were ground down and broke. Any idea where they go or what they do, no other parts in pan. Thanks Uploaded with ImageShack.us
 
Those are not snap rings. They are pieces of broken spring, probably from an accumulator since they are large.

Thanks for the replies. I agree a spring makes most sense. I'll pull the pan again tonight and see if I can find where it came from.

Those are pieces of the pressure relief spring in the pump. It will cause an isolated buzz usually around 3000-4000rpm when it breaks. The spring sits up against a roll pin and digs into the pin which helps the spring to break. It is more problematic with pumps that use a longer pressure relief spring.
