Hello, I have a 97 Grand Cherokee 4.0 motor and I need it to pass the yearly inspection in NY. My MIL codes are clear so no check engine light but I have three engine readiness "Not complete". Can someone help me figure out what I need to do. In NY we are allowed two not complete. I need to complete one more. This is what I have

1. O2 sensor heater "not complete" (The jeep has two o2 sensors)

2. Catalyst monitor "not complete"

3. Evaporative System "not complete"

What can I do to complete any one of these. I only need one more! I do have a scanner to make sure they are clear before I go to the inspection.
Thank You for all your help here!

Keep driving it.
Readiness codes will complete during a normal drive cycle, when certain
conditions are met. Try a steady cruise speed around 50mph for a few miles, then let it coast down to 40 mph a few times.
Each manufacturer has a specific set of conditions that need to be met before it will self test. Most involve a steady cruise speed and some deceleration.

Normal everyday driving will get them ready.

You could also try to get a copy of the drive cycle for your Jeep from the dealer.

Last night I jumped on the LIE here in NY plugged in the scanner and set it to alert me if there was a change in the readiness. It was almost 70 miles before the scanner beeped. The Catalyst monitor completed somwhere out in suffolk, Long Island. I started from brooklyn. What a pain in the rear. I guess this is how thye stop people from reseting the mil light before an inspection because it will reset the readiness as well then the car needs to be driven which will bring back the mil light if it has not been reapired properly. Emissions are getting harder and harder! Thank You all fpr your help. Off to go get an inspection done now LOLOL.

When I got the emissions done on my beater 90 Taurus. I actually saw a guy pull in and disconnect his battery in the parking lot. Since mine was a dyno test he was done before me. They told him that is computer was not ready, to get the problem fixed with his MIL and to not disconnect the battery in the parking lot where the tech can see you do it. Here in Utah you pay weather you pass or fail.
