Hi everyone!

Please see my post about the 92 park ave supercharger rebuild. I have never worked on a S.C. before and need some advice. Is there a good 3800 forum out there besides this one?

Should I rebuild it myself or buy one from a dealer? I found one with a warranty on ebay for 500 with S&H... is that a good price? How about just doing the nose? Who is a good vendor for these parts?

Is there much to R & Ring it?

I need to get this thing done ASAP

Thanks in advance!

What is exactly wrong with your blower, that you would need this rebuild???

it may just be the snout.

It sounds like a bearing is out. I replaced the idler pulleys -did not go away, and ran it w/o the belt - sound went away.

There is the slightest of possibilities that it could be the water pump, but I highly doubt it.

The SC has just a hair, and a thin hair at that, of side to side play - maybe a thousandth or two. It can turn back and forth about 30 degrees between rotors (I have no idea if that is normal or not) and absolutely NO in and out play.

If I could just do the snout, that would be great. I am most concerned with reliability though, as it is a daily driver.

Are there any other parts that go out regularly on these Superchargers? What I am getting at is, would it just be a bandaid to do the snout and then just end up having to do the whole thing in another 20-30 k?

Thank you very much for the help,

Vic

does it sound like its coming from the snout or the blower casing?

does it sound like a rattling..???
any oil leaking from the snout?

if theres a rattling sound coming from your snout..most likely the coupler.
theres a high speed bearing kit to replace all the bearing in the snout. and a better coupler.

i wouldnt go and spend 500 on a new blower..thats too much money...i think 92 comes with m62 oppossed to the m90 on the 97 and up right?

get the snout rebuild kit. if your handy...you can do it yourself..its not really hard...just a matter of how much time you get to do it...its tedious.

see what happens..then move onto to rotors if it doesnt fix the problem.

**does it sound like its coming from the snout or the blower casing?**

Both - hard to really tell

**does it sound like a rattling..???**

Yes

**any oil leaking from the snout?**

Yes, not a lot but some.

It is the M62 so I'm told. I've also been told to go with a 94 model (if I get a rebuilt one) - it has the teflon rotors and is suppossed to make 20 more hp. What do you think?

Where can I get the snout rebuild kit, and how much will it run me?

THANK YOU!!

Vic
