I am going to pull out my stock gauge cluster on my 87 GN. Switching to a GNX one? any tips on removal of this? thanks

Disconnect the speedo cable in the engine compartment (right next to the master cylinder) Remove the instrument surround, remove the screws from the cluster slide out gently (it won't come out very far). Remove the plugged harness on the right side, remove the clip where the speedo cable inserts into the cluster and slide out. Pull cluster out enough to gain access to the wires still connected to the cluster. Stick your hand under the dash just behind the radio panel and locate the connector for the wires coming from the cluster. Separate and pull the cluster out.

There should be slack enough to get the speedo loose without loosening it under the hood

It also helps to drop the steering column (2 bolts) makes it easier to get out.

The Tach/Boost harness is best gotten at from the bottom.

Remove the SES and Security lights back of the dash.

Remove the VSS pickup from the back of the cluster and out it comes.

I got real good at this swapping over to LED bulbs two weeks ago

how many bulbs are in the cluster...i have a digital one and it only illuminates around the odometer.. should there be more?

perfect.....i guess i dont have a bulb out the dash is dim from factory...i guess its a buick thing....whats with all the extra telltale lights? do these cars have a low fuel light? or is it an option? thanks Pete
