Just limped my way home...
after an hour & a half of driving on the highway, my car (86 TTYPE with 125k) stated to stutter and hesitate, then return to normal (repeated this about 6-8 times) until it finally died. After a half hour cool-down... I was able to start the car and drive it home. There was some little burps along the way home.
This is the 3rd time (since Nov 2001) its done this... but it always restarted after a cool-down period. I've change the coil & module and swapped in another MAF.... thinking that they may be the problem!!! There were no code, the scanmaster# seem normal. (i didn't have my TLiink with me!!)
I read that some Fords had a similar stutter/hesitation/die problems because they were using an incorrect wrong resistor (can't remember where). Do you think the fan resistor could cause this problem. The previous owner put a non-GM fan resistor in. I checked the fan wires and they were hot!!!
Does anyone know what would causes this problem?? Does anyone think it maybe cam sensor related... I've had some intermitent CODE 41 (last time was Wednesday)
It must be something mechnical that gets hot & fails which the ECM does not pick up!!! Fuel pump?? ECM?? tired injectors?? HELP!!!!
TIA.... dave
