When I go to mount my coil pack and the bracket makes contact with the fuel rail, the FUEL PUMP TURNS ON! This is only with the iginition key in the ON position.

Anyone else ever have this problem? How do I find out why the coil pack is turning the fuel pump on. Other than contact/grounding, can I pin out the connector? Will that help?

Thanks
Curt

Last time I checked your fuel pump is supposed to run for a few seconds when the key is in the "on" position....Did you hear the pump run, and then quickly disconnect it?

Connct the coil pack, and the pump should run for about 5-10 seconds tops then turn off.

Remember the coil pack braket grounds out the coil pack, and once you ground it out...all things "ign" related should turn on! One of those things is the fuel pump prime.

I don't know about normal, but it may indicate you have a broken ground wire someplace else, possibly the one that feeds the ecm ground circuit controling the fuel pump relay.

If this is true, is there any way of finding the problem other than just visually?

if its happening when the module bracket is grounded then its normal

your running risk by messing with it with the key on.

turn key off and get the module grounded before turning key on
