well my other half talked me into a expedition ,i am haveing a problem with the heat,i changed the thermostat to a 195.the heat only blows out of the dash luke warm, the lower the setting the warmer it will blow but still not very hot.the rear heat blows very hot as should.any ideas?heater core,or blend door?

Might be a blend door thats stuck. Does the inside smell like coolant at all? No air pockets?

no smell of coolant and the passenger floor is dry,one heater hose going in the firewall is hot and the other is just warm

I had a GMC Jimmy that did the same thing. I ended up disconnecting the hoses that run to the heater core from the engine side of the hose and connecting the garden hose to those hoses to flush out the heater core. I did get a dirty mess out of it. I then reconnected the hoses and did a flush on a whole coolant system with one of those store bought flushes. After I did this it blew hot air.

Maybe check and see if your cabin air cleaner (if it has one) is clogged. Heater core seems fine. Flushing it seems like a good idea also.

Good idea to crack the heater hoses at the core, to bleed the air out that may be stuck there. I've had more than one car where after changing a thermostat, hose, fluid, etc. would have air pockets trapped in there that need to be bled out.

My 2000 alero was HORRIBLE for this... it'd take DAYS to bleed it out. My GN had that issue as well, but was fine once I cracked the hose while it was running.

Crack it, and twist it loose until coolant comes out.

A good indicator of an air pocket/restriction in there also, is to let it warm up for 10min... and feel each hose. If they're both luke warm, yet the upper rad. hose is hot.. you have a restriction.

good luck.

I have a friend with an expedition and took it to the dealer and here it was a vac. problem. the hoses were shot. then took it back because the trans. acted up and they replaced more vac. lines. He said "thank god i got it in and fixed or the trans would have been $3,000 to fix." just a thought to look into.

what Buickspec said

flush the system. You wont get it all out but you will get hot air.
