Hey Guy’s
I need an up pipe for my 84 GN. Mine is holey, literally. I believe that I have Kenne Bell headers. I’m not 100% sure because they were on the car when I bought it. I could email some one a picture if they would be able to tell. I know that you need to match down pipes to the headers but I’m not sure about the up pipe. So do you all know what would be a low cost well made up pipe that will fit?
Thanks
David

I believe there is a pic of a pair of KB headers on gnttype.org in the pictures section.

Do U have a stock, braided/flexible type pipe?

I "think" KB's up pipe is specific to their headers.........all others are interchangable.

ATR makes a nice stock replacement.......BWEAVY can hook U up with one of those.

Just replaced my up pipe with a Poston's stainless unit. It is very pretty having no ugly crimps. No instructions with it. Fit was fair. The "puck" or turbo to up pipe adapter is deleted. I say the fit was fair because I had to find a silver exhaust gasket at the local parts house to go between the header and the up pipe and I spent about two hours grinding the three hole flange from the old up pipe into a wedge in order to close the air gap between the up pipe and turbo. Three flat exhaust gaskets then sealed the deal. There was a reason that GM put a flexx join in the stock pipe AM

Yes I have the braided/flexible type up pipe. I am pretty sure from looking at the picture that they are Kenne Bell headers but they are not ceramic and are a little rusted. What are the differences between the KB headers and the other brands? Is it the flanges?
Thanks
David

I think the KB headers use a type of band clamp to connect header to downpipe..........sure you don't have postons headers?

I've never seen a set of KBs in real life.......just pics.

I would imagine if U have a stock up pipe now, a ATR stainless piece would work.

FYI: They sell a copper gasket for where the up pipe meets the turbo.........but you have to ask for it.
