i want to add a sub and amp to my 87 GN, i have an alpine head unit, polk audio front speakers, and kicker rear speakers. No door speakers. Any ideas on brands to buy? my budget is around $500

I don't know if this helps but here's what I did.

I purchased a new JL Audio 12W1V2-4 sub, installed it in a new H112RF box that actually fits in the trunk under the rear shelf panel, and found a used JL Audio 250/1 amp on Craiglist. IIRC I think I did all of this for under $300. It sounds pretty good too. Plenty of bass inside the car.

i would do some research .you can find some good prices on last years stuff.car audio is like a home computers, new stuff every year and most people have to have the latest and greatest stuff.i picked up some real good name brand amps and subs at a flea market for half of what you would pay at car audio shop.also you can find nice stuff on ebay.i only put a 10inch sub in my car due to weight, but it pounds for one 10.
