I have a 86 GN does this car have a external voltage regulator? If so where is it?

Also check for battery voltage at the large terminal on the alt.

12.5 at the batt & The alt The light isn't working in the dash is this a factor?

Found the prob.Loose connection where the inst, cluster plugs in!!Took it in and out a couple of times now the batt light comes on in the dash and it charges fine!!  Please move this to the best area to maybe help someone later!! Thanks for the help, Bill:D

If you have any more problems with that light bulb not making a connection and allowing the charging system to work properly. Caspers sells a plug and play harness kit that does away with the bulb.
Taps right into the wastegate solenoid wiring.

Along the same lines...question.

My alternator gets as hot as the turbo compressor!

I seems to charge though.
This seems to be happening ever since I upgraded it with a high output kit from Mike at turbobuicks.com.

It is literaly too hot to touch!

After your car has warmed up, is your alternator too hot to touch?
