Concerning the hood insulator pad, I have two TRs I drive and the pads are intact on both cars. However, I'd like to be able to make them look new. Make them look jet black. I thought, I could remove the hood and properly mask it and spray something on the pad to make it a uniform black. Hadn't decided what to use, and then I thought of something easier. Take a small sponge paint roller and roll something on to make the pad uniform black. Also easier to "cut in" the BUICK lettering and power six symbol. Any suggestions what type of paint would be worth a try or any suggestion that might work better?

Dye made for fabrics?

I'm going to try the paint roller soaked in brake cleaner to see how much crud I can get off of mine.

thick paint:D

That porous fiber material is gunna soak up some serious paint.

Good luck!

Meguiars has some decent cleaners in their detailer line. Either Safe Degreaser or All Purpose Cleaner or All Purpose Cleaner Plus

Well, I think the pads would be resistant to soaking up a thick liquid, so if you roll on paint you would like it to stay on the surface and perhaps sink in some. Oil base paints are kind of sticky and might pull material off the pad as you roll it on. Maybe a flat black latex paint would be the best choice, thick, just like you roll it on a wall and spread it out with a sponge roller. Any thoughts?
