Hermet Crab Got Revenge

Well about one month ago we were at the mall and my two boys ages 2 and 4 wanted this hermit crab from the first sight they layed eyes on it, it's a big sucker too. I told them in order to get it they will have to be sure to give it water and feed it daily. Well happy to report they have been doing an outstanding job but, while doing so they always rough house with it, roll it around, pull his legs etc. Anyway, I told them several times already that one day the crab is going to pinch you and get revenge if your not nice to it.

Well low and behold, while taking a shower my 4 year old ran up stairs and said something about the crab, Nathaniel crying and what ever else he said. Well I couldn't hear him clearly being that I was in the shower and really not worring to much because the wife was down stairs with them. Then I starting thinking, crab, Nathaniel crying could only mean one thing. He got pinched Not to be mean or anything like that, but he sure did learn his lesson quickly and isn't going near it for a while. Poor guy suffered a flesh wound and now sports a Scooby Doo bandaid.......Poor little fella.

P.S You guys have any stories about you young ones?

Same basic story, but no leg pulling. We "HAD" 2 and one always kept his claw fully open and it was like a spring trap. If you put something in it it snapped shut FAST. My 3 year old learned fingers were no exception to the rule. Dam crab held on like a Pit Bull. Those things can do some damage to the skin. He left THAT one alone after.

I only laugh because that happened to me when I was younger. They DO hold on like a pitbull! My mom tried to get it off by running my hand under hot water, but that did nothing but burn me, lol. She finally took a butter knife and pried open the claw and freed me. Needelss to say I never messed with my hermit crab again.

LOL and man, I thought this would be the only Hermit Crab incident And yes they do pack a powerful pinch. Needless to say, Nathaniel hasn't touched it since his little encounter, he just points at it and say's bad, bad.
