I am thinking of taking the 2 little ones 8 & 11 to Hershey area this summer for vacation for a couple of days.

I have decided hotels are too expensive. For the same money a Time share rental is way to go. It gives more rooms / space & kitchen.

Besides the park. What else is good in that area to see or do?

We go every year in June. There's not much else there, but the park is plenty big to consume an entire weekend. We used to stay at the BlueGreen timeshare until they doubled their rates. 5-star NYC hotel rates in the middle of PA. They do a great job at the Hershey Lodge, but it's a bit pricey.

Cool thanks.. I been reading they have a factory or simulated factory tour & a Zoo. Yeah I was only doing a few days. I rented Condo from owner direct.

I was thinking of driving down to DC for a stay over but man you need some serious cash to stay in the Capitol. Northern VA is no bargian.

Don't forget to go through the Hershey museum. The Hersheys did a lot of collecting and if you want to see some really neat stuff go see it. Just outside of the park too. The original factory tour is no longer there but the simulated one is OK. Just wait til you get to the end and ALL THE CHOCOLATE YOU EVER WANT!! Just have to pay for it.

The simulated factory tour is okay, and it's free. The kids like it. My daughter used to get scared going through the bean roaster when she was a toddler.

The zoo is pretty pathetic - I'd skip it if I were you.

Every year they open up a new attraction. Not sure what it is this year. They opened up the Jersey-shore themed "beach" area a few years ago. You could easily spend 2 days there - it's great.

Don't forget Hershey is the home of the Antique Auto Club of America. Their building is on the highway on the east side of town...I believe they also have a museum....http://www.aacamuseum.org/events/event.aspx?id=218. I pass it each year on my way to the fall Hershey car show...the biggest in the world, Not a whole lot of GN parts although there are usually one or two GN's in the car corral. Unfortunately the car show is a little late in the season for the park.
