Finally decided to post. Ive been lurking for a few weeks.

I recently bought up a T type from another member (Ray Bunch). Never thought I would own one of these cars, they just seemed unobtainable but I got a good deal on a runner (11.5@118)

Im was and still am a die hard thirdgen F body guy. I have an 89 Firebird with just a wee little 305 that runs 13.6's naturally aspirated @~103-105(with a bad 60 foot, 2.2, im hoping for low thirteens next time out... and if the stars are in alignment maybe even a high 12 with a few of the latest tweaks)

Gotta say, the boost is great. I put the hurt on a Gixxer sport bike on the highway, dont know which, but I assume it was a 600, the guy was flabbergasted that this big grey buick just pulled on him.

I plan on going to alky injection (116 is just way too expensive) here soon. Im still trying to get a handle on tuning these cars... seems like alot of things to balance, boost, timing, alky.... Still trying to grasp how you know when you have too much of one or the other since less on one allows you to run more on another.

I have a fair amount of experience burning chips for the firebird and I wanna get started on that with the buick too. The goal right now is to have it run the same or close to the same on pump gas+alky as it does on 116, call me silly.

Anyways, im in so Cal and thought I should introduce myself before I started posting randomly

Welcome aboard Pablo. Pendleton is a great place with Oceanside nearby and all. Great to have a camp on the beach there. Enjoy your car, but be safe, these things can be too awesome at times. There is a guy in Lake Forrest by the name of Lou that works on these things and does good from what I hear. You may want to track him down here for future reference.

Pump gas and alky does not equal 116 race gas no matter how you do the chip. Many head gaskets have been changed by not believing that.:)

I like that comment;) we too have definitely found the limits of the stock head gaskets on pump fuel...not good;) :D

We set our chips up to equal/ be equivalent to running either 98 or 100 octane. There are certain power enrichment curves we have also changed in the chips to better suit the volatile pump fuel and alky supplement. When looking for a chip, note that you will be running octane levels around 98 octane to be conservative, if they ask tell them what you are doing. Our chips have been setup to run 26-28 psi on a bone stock motor with pump and alky, for the 98 chip and for the 100 octane chip we run about 24-26 # Again for these boost levels you will need something a little larger than the stock turbo...we like to run the new GT series turbos, they are insanely efficient...allowing you to run THOSE boost levels without overheating or over(spooling) the turbocharger-and hence creating more heat in the intake charge. Also another thing to add...Every car is different, and every combination is different....be very careful with what you do and you will have good Luck!!!:) Listen to ALL of those who have done it before, and not just "one" that has done it before...and you'll find that to be an incredible tool for tuning your buick.

Welcome to the board, and the buick world!

Keith

welcome, that's one quick turbo:D 11.5 i just want to warn you a lot of people like our cars, my advice to you( ) is to get a good alarm installed( unless you already have one) and maybe some type of steering lock, just to be safe:) other than that keep on boosting:D

Yep, I allready have certain "features" in place to deter theft.

Miami huh? what part? Im originally from cutler ridge, saga bay to be exact.
You ever run it at the "nationals" down there next to the sewage treatment plant? I used to be there every weekend (and some times during the week) with the firebird.

Believe it or not Miami has a far better car scene than the area I'm in now which is supposedly where hotrodding began. There are no cruise ins or hangouts like fuddruckers or lurias in westchester, etc

I miss those days :(

Pablo,

finally made it on the board, it took long enough for you to get a turbobuick... Thirdgens just can't keep up ;)

Pablo, keep reading up on turbo buicks, you'll get the hang of it quick. I think this board overall is much more knowledgeable then thirdgen.org, but it might be the fact that there are like 100k members at thirdgen, half of them are under 18 and have no idea what they are doing.

U get that scanmaster yet?

Let me know the numbers your seeing...

oh yeah, any knock retard = bad.

Welcome aboard Honkey! :)
